Our Story
In 2010, I spent three months travelling through Sri Lanka, where I experienced a very different relationship with food.
Food was grown close to home, produce was seasonal and freshly harvested, and meals were simple and natural. I noticed the difference. I felt energised, my digestion felt lighter and, quite simply, I felt better than I had in years. I positively glowed.
It made me question where my food came from and how it was produced.
That idea stayed with me when I returned home.
From humble beginnings...
I started seeking out local farmers and producers who cared about how food was grown, raised and made.
What began as a personal search gradually became The Village Pantry, bringing together naturally grown produce and thoughtfully produced food from people we trust.
Over the years, we've built relationships, asked a lot of questions and become clearer about what matters to us. Today, we call this our Nature-Led™ approach.

Today, Village Pantry is a fully functioning store just outside Melkbosstrand, opposite Ou Meul on the R27, as well as an online store delivering our carefully curated food to our surrounding communities.
We continue to search for great farmers, growers and makers, and to make their food easier for you to find.
